Larry Hemmerich

My artwork is a window into my love for the natural world around me.  It may be a mountain range, the desert, a dead tree, a rock formation, the Pacific shoreline.  I am inspired by all that surrounds me.  And I am passionate about capturing the beauty of nature’s creation with my pastels.  My currents works are the result of the extensive hiking I do in the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains.  I work primarily from on location studies, and the addition of a plein air easel provided me the immediacy of painting on location.  My desire is to capture a moment, a scene that you the beholder may never see in person but can still lose yourself in it as if to experience it for yourself.
