The heat of Summer in the desert has arrived, but not without much resistance. On June 2nd I was on San Jacinto at Wellman’s Divide (9700’ elevation) and it began sleeting. There was, also, a lot of snow on the ground. A fun day was cut short by the cold, inclement weather. In the desert though, temps are exceeding 100 degrees. I have been very busy at my easel producing art for The Borrego Springs “Circle of Art” Poster. I was selected by the “Circle of Art” committee to be the featured artist for next years event. I am very excited about this opportunity. I am also busy with commissioned work and I am awaiting the jury results for a gallery show near Santa Barbara. This would be a great event in which to participate as I would be opening up a new area where my art can be seen.
The deadline for entry into this year’s Joshua Tree National Park Art Expo is fast approaching and I will be in Joshua Tree next week taking photos and gathering ideas for potential paintings to enter by the deadline of July 15th. Last year I was privileged to be accepted into that event and have a painting on display in the 29 Palms Gallery.
I will be traveling to Ohio in July and the family will all be together to celebrate my Mother’s 89th birthday. I also plan to present her with a painting that I have be creating for her. It will be a very busy and productive Summer that I truly look forward to.
